Internally Framed Door Design

At Architectural Doorsets we only manufacture doorsets to our internally framed door design. This means that we supply and certify doorsets which go above and beyond the industry norm, ensuring product certainty to clients, architects, and specifiers.

Doors leaves are constructed of 2No 25mm edge cut MDF forming a 50mm MDF internal stiles and rails framework with composite infill panels. The face of both sides of the framework and composite infill panels are faced with 4mm MDF sheet providing a smooth surface for the door leaf facings of veneer, laminate, PVC, & Paint.

Our internally framed F-DOR has performance built in and offers a robust solution to the more onerous environments in the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Hotel and Public sectors.

Fire Certification

One of the key principle benefits in choosing Architectural Doorsets is that all our fire certification and assessments are supported by 40 years of primary fire test evidence, which have been validated by independent testing authority WarringtonFire.

Our F-DOR internally framed door & timber frame range achieves 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes fire resistance certification to BS 476: Part 22 1987, tested and certified by WarringtonFire.

We have continued to invest in our F-DOR internally framed door range, and we hold 30- & 60-minute fire resistance certification to BS EN 1614-1: 2014 in both timber and steel frame configurations, tested and certified by WarringtonFire.

Acoustic & Smoke Performance

We hold primary acoustic test evidence for our F-DOR in both timber & steel frames configurations from Lorient in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:2010

With the addition of Lorient DS seals, Batwing seals and LAS 8001si drop down threshold seals our F-DOR achieves an acoustic performance of up to 37dB’s without the requirement for a threshold plate, which will outperform the acoustic performance of standard chipboard door blanks & their requirement for a threshold plate.

Intumescent and integrated cold smoke seals are included in our doorset supply to comply with BS EN 1634-3: 2004 performance requirements & Smoke Seal recommendations in BS 8214: 2016

Ironmongery

Ironmongery is an integral part of any fire doorset, our internally framed F-DOR design provides high quality secure fixings for hinges, pivots, locks, concealed closers, and other ironmongery products. This is necessary to provide the proper functioning and long life of any doorsets.

All doorsets are machined on our state-of-the-art CNC’s, these CNC machines ensure accurate machining of ironmongery components in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

We have now formed a partnership with Dormakaba to supply Architectural Doorsets with a complete range ironmongery and we are developing a full range of complete doorsets across all sectors.

We recommend that CertiFire approved ironmongery products are only specified with our F-DOR internally framed doorsets in order to comply with WarringtonFire certification. Our production team at the start of any project will review all proposed ironmongery components to ensure they are compatible with our fire resistance test evidence.

Timber Frames

Frames are machined hardwood or softwood, and purpose-made with a dovetail joint providing a more robust & superior quality finish to the timber frame.

Our primary fire test evidence certifies, shadow frames (without the requirement of intumescent to the shadow gap), flush front frames, split frames, rebated frames & plant on stop frame. The design, profiles and dimensions of frames, linings and architraves can be varied to suit specifiers’ requirements (subject to any performance limitations).

For veneered door leaves Architectural Doorsets selects species of compatible appearance for the frame. The frames of Engineered veneers doorsets are stained to match to the colour of the veneer.

Vision Panels

The aperture of our vision panels are also framed with our 50mm MDF framework, this framework to the vision panels allows for greater glazing areas to our 30 & 60 minute fire resistance doorsets, as supported by our primary fire test evidence from WarringtonFire.

Our full range of doorsets can be specified with splayed cloaking bead, flush glazing bead or with a powder coated or stainless-steel trim.

All glazing options are available with these glazing beads, non-rated laminate glass, integrity only fire glass, integrity and insulated fire glass, acoustic glass, impact resistant glass.
