At Architectural Doorsets we carried out numerous acoustic tests on a variety of door designs and doorset configurations. All our tests are in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:2010 – laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements.
The test method involves a full-scale sample to be installed within a split chamber to which various sound level measurements are undertaken. This results in establishing in calculating a level of sound reduction for the doorset. Measurements when taken are at frequencies varying from 50Hz to 5000Hz. The figure of 500Hz is taken in establishing test results and is demonstrated in the form of a weight sound reduction index RwdB, which confirms acoustic performance of the doorset.
We manufacture made to order Acoustic doorsets in a wide range of configurations, fire rating and finishes. To achieve enhanced sound insulation (dB), we add both perimeter and threshold seals:
Typical doorset construction with combination of perimeter and threshold seals provides sound insulation rating of up to Rw 37 dB.
Higher acoustic performance up to Rw 44 dB can be supplied for more specialist application.
Application
The requirement for acoustic performance doorsets are specified in a wide range of projects, most notably for application in education, healthcare, commercial and public sector facilitie. Typical locations include:
- Education: Classrooms, lecture theatres, auditoriums
- Healthcare: Operating theatres, consultant suites, bedrooms, plant rooms
- Commercial: Corporate office suites, boardrooms, meeting rooms
- Public: Cinemas, theatres, plant rooms, offices
